Titchfield Bowling Club has been awarded two grants worth more than £66,000 to refurbish the group’s clubhouse.
The club, based in Bridge Street, and which celebrated its 90th birthday in June, was successful in its application for the two grants for £46,000 from Hampshire County Council and £20,000 from Fareham Borough Council.
The money will be spent on refurbishing the old wooden club house that was built when the club was formed 90 years ago.
Gary Rathke, the secretary of the club, said the club house was initially built with no mains electricity and no toilet facilities, but with the help of the money they will be able to transform it for the members.
He added: “I am amazingly happy about being given the grants.”
The clubhouse will be demolished and rebuilt slightly larger to be able to house the club and its growing number of members. It is hoped be ready by April 2014.
