The open spaces were two of five given awards from the Fareham area, with the borough also awarded the prestigious Hampshire Life Award for the entry with highest marks in the county.

Sarisbury Cricket Club was one of six in the borough to be given an outstanding level of achievement in the Britain in Bloom ‘It’s Neighbourhood Awards’.

Executive member for Leisure and Community Councillor Connie Hockley said: “Fareham always comes out with amazing awards for its beautiful parks and gardens around the borough.

“I have no doubt that this is all thanks to our dedicated volunteers and council officers who work hard throughout the year to ensure that Fareham maintains its reputation of horticultural excellence.

“I would like to give huge thanks to all those involved and congratulate them on this achievement.”
