Warsash Flower Club held a festival of flowers at St Mary’s Church to mark 50 years of the group.

Flowers came in a variety of styles and themes at the event, which began today (Friday) and will continue throughout the weekend.

After Mayor of Fareham Susan Bayford cut the ribbon to open the event, people flowed through to look at the exhibition.

There was a tea and cake flower stand, pillar decorations of sparkling leaves, sailing themed flowers and bugs painted on stones, made by youngsters at Warsash pre-schools at The Victory Hall and St Mary’s Church.

Committee member Sue Bentley said: “It’s been a lot of hard work on everybody’s part. It’s lovely to hear people’s comments which are all very positive.

“The church asked the club to put on the event, so we did. It’s to celebrate the church and our golden anniversary.”

Visit the festival at the church in Church Road from 10.30am to 4pm this weekend.
